Announcement- New
Incoming- IRGA Managing Director
May 13th, 2013 Over the last month, the Board of Directors of the IRgA has
been in the process of interviewing candidates to replace Joel Salus, who is
departing at the end of May. The Board is now happy to report that Ed Avis has
been hired to be the new IRGA Managing Director. A unanimous choice by the
Board of Directors, Ed comes to the IRGA with much experience and knowledge of
our Industry. Ed was the editor of
IRgA’s Plan & Print magazine and editor/publisher of Modern Reprographics.
He also wrote extensively for Repro Report magazine and wrote The Green
Reprographics Handbook. In the ever evolving landscape of the new IRGA, Ed’s
background in journalism and web-site content management will serve the IRGA
well. The Board also felt it was important that our policy remains as an
unbiased association representing all reprographers.
Joel and Ed are working to make the transition as smooth as
possible and will complete it by the end of May.
The Board also wants to recognize the contributions of Joel
Salus and the progress he has made in the resurgence of the IRgA. His insight
and dedication to the IRGA hasn’t gone un-noticed, we wish him well in whatever
new endeavor he undertakes in the future. Thank you Joel for your hard work!
Thank You,
IRGA Board of Directors

THE EASTERN REPROGRAPHICS
ASSOCIATION (ERA) CONCLUDES ITS ANNUAL CONVENTION AND TRADE SHOW
As most of you are aware, the Eastern Reprographics
Association was created, a few years ago, when the Eastern Regional
Reprographics Association merged with the Southeastern Regional Reprographics
Association.
This brief "wrap of” of events was provided
by Bob Roperti, member of the IRgA Executive Board. Our thanks to Bob for the write-up.
Attendance:
* 16 or 17
reprographics companies had representatives at the ERA
* 14 – 16
vendors participated in the trade show
*
Approximately 60-70 people attended the ERA
* Vendor
table-top exhibits and the cocktail party event were well attended
The Education Program was EXCEPTIONAL; it,
alone, was worth the price of admission!
Keynote
speaker, KP Reddy (of ampirix.com), presented the impact of
Cloud-based technology on the reprographics industry and options for our
businesses. He discussed API packages
and their fit when combined. He elaborated
on SAAS models that could be marketed to our existing customer base, where we
have market knowledge, receptive clients and the technology to support client
service needs. Further, he discussed
"Steps to the Cloud” within our businesses - - e-mail, collaboration and phone
systems, interfacing all client communications with CRM programs via the Cloud.
Tony McGaughey (also of ampirix.com) outlined programs to incorporate social media pages to
the various services, Facebook, LinkedIn, other options. His focus was on developing a Marketing
Calendar and stick to it for regular posts, covering the topics built into the
strategy. He discussed racking tools
required to measure and support the results, including Hootsuite, Nutshell Mail
and Google Analytics. And, he talked
about the vital importance of developing good landing-page content, responding
to all social media postings, even critical ones. Defining opportunities with
contacts of interest from inquiries.
On Saturday, during the educational "break-out”
sessions, the
speakers
provided more "nuts and bolts” action items, "to do list” guidance.
PowerPoint files of the above two
presentations will be posted on the ERA web-site (eastrepro.com), so if you were not able to attend the ERA
event, you will still be able to view the presentations that were given.
As to the location
and timing of the next ERA Convention and Tradeshow the new ERA Board
is currently evaluating venues for the next conference and would welcome any
recommendations from the membership.

Announcement from the IRgA Board – Re:
IRgA Managing Director
The Board of
Directors of the IRgA has elected to find a replacement for Joel Salus,
Managing Director of the IRgA since August 1st, 2012. The reason for this change: Joel, who operates an active consulting
practice, recently took on an additional engagement for one of his clients,
and, after the IRgA Board thoroughly discussed his new engagement, our Board
members determined that Joel’s new engagement would conflict with his position
as Managing Director of the IRgA.
Joel has
provided the expertise and management skills needed in the resurgence of the
IRgA. There are approximately 700 individuals, worldwide, now registered as
IRgA members. The IRgA website blogs
provide current information on topics of interest to members domestically and
abroad. Joel’s reprographics business experience and industry insight has
provided the Board of Directors with a clear path for future association
development and direction. We appreciate Joel’s service and contribution and
wish him well in his new endeavor.
It’s the
IRgA Board’s commitment to provide senior level networking opportunities in
support of all reprographers and to continue as an information resource.
We
anticipate a smooth transition of services while the Board selects a new
Managing
Director.
Thank you,
IRgA Board

GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK TO DAN
MULROONEY
Dan Mulrooney, who assumed the role of
President of the IRgA last August 1st, recently purchased a business
outside of the reprographics
industry, and, in order to focus all of his time and energy on his new
business, submitted his resignation to the IRgA Board. Dan’s resignation was accepted by the IRgA
Board.
Dan’s new business is in the "construction
materials and supplies” industry, in Northern California and the Central
Valley.
We wish Dan every
success with his new venture!
Prior to
committing to his new venture, Dan was a Vice President at ARC. Dan came to ARC as a result of ARC’s
acquisition of Stockton Blue. Dan was a
key contributor to ARC’s business.
Prior to
moving into the role of President of the IRgA, Dan devoted years of his time to
the IRgA, serving the IRgA in various capacities, including his participation
as a member of the IRgA Board of Directors.
On behalf of the IRgA Officers and Board of
Directors, we want to thank Dan for his many years of service to the IRgA and
for his many contributions to the IRgA. During Dan’s tenure as President, membership
in the IRgA grew from 263 to 687, an increase of 424 members!
About the
continuity of the remaining Officers and Board members, our Officers and Board
members include people who are well-experienced in the Reprographics Industry.
Again, we
wish Dan Mulrooney all the best!
Sincerely
yours,
Joel Salus
