Our History

The International Reprographic Association was formed in Boston, MA in 1927 when a group of prominent men in the blueprint and allied industries met. At the first annual convention held in Chicago in 1928, the attendees discussed common problems and worked to begin establishing standard practices and a business code of ethics in order to improve overall conditions in the industry. While the association and the industry have undergone significant change since the 1920s, the IRgA today still provides a framework for the exchange of information and support for the industry. The IRgA continues to be the only independent association serving the reprographics industry and the AEC community. Members specialize in:

Reprographic Services: Reproducing documents or digital files onto a variety of mediums i.e.; paper bond, vellum, Mylar.

Large-format Printing: Reproduction of documents or digital files in black and white or color at a size of 12 x 18 inches or larger.

Construction Document Management: Complete management of the life cycle of any document from the original to the last revision, which includes scanning, printing, indexing, distribution and storage.

Facility Management/On-site Services: Providing reprographic equipment and services to a customer's site/facility. The customer typically only pays for output while the reprographic provider is responsible for leases, service, and supplies.

Finishing Services: Binding, stapling, hole punching, inserting, packaging, mounting, lamination.

Digital Reproductions: Reproducing a digital file to hardcopy output.

Small-format Printing: Reproduction of digital files or hard copy in black and white or color at a size of 12 x18 inches or less.

Scanning: Converting hard copy into a digital format.
