Happy New Year!
|
Steve Bova, CAE
Executive Director
The headline is correct! It is indeed a Happy New Year for the IRgA.
One might not think of August as being the beginning of anything new especially a new year but it is the beginning of the IRgA's fiscal year. IRgA membership officially runs from August 1 through July 31.

The IRgA is approaching its 80th year as the premier organization for the reprographics industry. After suffering for most of the past decade, the association is back in a position of strength and is committed to extending upon its value proposition to the reprographics industry.
Membership renewal is ongoing though August, and preliminary indications point to a strong renewal period. For those companies that have not renewed their membership, now is the time for both reprographer and vendor member companies to continue membership in their association! Keeping with our recent success, the IRgA Board of Directors has decided to retain the same dues levels for 200506. To prevent a lapse in your membership and ensure inclusion in the printed Membership Directory, renewals must be received by September 1, 2005.
Before looking ahead, let's look back and appreciate a few major accomplishments in 200405:
- Unveiled a new website with enhanced memberonly functionality and a realtime membership directory
- Established an Audit Committee for better financial accountability and oversight
- Introduced the IRgA News Digest monthly enewsletter
- Increased member activity on the Discussion Forum email list, resulting in more sharing of knowledge within the industry
- Conducted a new Board member orientation for first time, as part of our continuous governance improvement efforts
- Reformatted the Convention and Trade Show program, with rave reviews
- Established a Vendor Relations Committee to gain additional feedback on the trade show
And here's a taste of just a few things planned for 200506:
- Introduction of an industry perception study focused on your customers architecture, engineering and construction firms
- Continued enhancements to the Convention and Trade Show based on feedback from attendees and vendors
- Introduction of webinars as a means to gain information without leaving your office
- Continued enhancements to the website
- Unveiling of an Operating Ratio Study next spring based on 2005 financial data
With the new fiscal year, our aim within the IRgA is to continue to build on the momentum we have generated the past two years. The association is thriving again and is in a position of strength, thanks to the many dedicated members who have continued to support their industry and their industry association. We look forward to serving you, your company and the reprographics industry for another year!

Sell Like a CEO
By Rick Farrell
In order to be successful, salespeople need to develop a CEO mentality. They need to view their territory as a separate company that they run with profit and loss responsibility. Salespeople should have an acid test for assessing their activities: If I had to fund every penny of my salary, benefits, expenses and other costs of acquiring this piece of business and in return get reimbursements and 30% to 40% commission, would I do it? That's the bet companies are making in their salespeople every day, which unfortunately is usually a poor bet.
The full article on this subject will appear in the September/October 2005 issue of REPRO REPORT.
