Executive Director's Message

March Madness – the IRgA Version

The IRgA's version of March Madness is taking place, with a ton of information coming your way. To simplify all of the information, here's a summary of what's going on:

Steve Bova, CAE,
Executive Director

  • As part of its new logo and brand rollout, the IRgA will be conducting a readership survey later this week to gain feedback on readability, design and content quality. It's the first such readership survey in more than five years.
    • Other enhancements include a rollout of a new look for News Digest this summer, that will include shorter hits and more links so you can choose the information you want to read.
  • See the Convention Update below for all of the news related to the 2008 Convention & Trade Show. Significant changes this year include:
    • The show is Tuesday–Thursday this year, so plan your travel accordingly.
    • Preview the Advance Program at the IRgA Web site.
    • The Bukovsky Award presentation has been moved to Thursday morning breakfast (new), allowing for two days of lunch on the exhibit floor (both Wednesday and Thursday).
    • The education program has been enhanced from 11 to 16 offerings and provides for a sales track.
    • As an incentive for companies to bring more people, the registration has been deeply discounted for multiple registrants. Register today.
  • The Fourth Quarter 2007 Baird Reprographics Industry Report is available. Click here.
  • Nominations for the 2008–09 IRgA Board of Directors are due March 7. Click here to nominate yourself or forward a form to an industry colleague.
  • The 2008 IRgA Membership Directory will mail this spring. One copy is mailed to each member company's key contact; additional copies will be available through the IRgA office, and you can always go online for real–time access to the information.
  • Available to IRgA members 24/7 is access to the BERTL MegaNet service that provides information on industry equipment. It's a $995 annual value that's offered free to IRgA members. Click here for members–only access.
  • Mark April 9 at 11 a.m. Central time on your calendar. That's the date of the next IRgA Webinar that is offered only to member companies. And it's free! The topic is the third and final in a series on operational efficiency. Watch your inbox in the coming weeks for more information.

As you can see, March begins the Madness within the IRgA. Your association has worked hard to step up its value offering to member companies. Non–member companies can join the IRgA at anytime by clicking here.

Read the rest of News Digest to find out what else is happening within the IRgA and the reprographics industry.

As always, we welcome your feedback and you can feel free to e–mail me directly at sbova@irga.com.

Gustavson, editor of Wide–Format Imaging magazine. Buying Time: Best Practices for Hardware Purchases

By Scott Cullen

Look before you lease. That's probably the best advice a repro shop owner can get before acquiring any piece of hardware. That advice applies not just to the particulars of the lease, but when deciding whether or not to lease or buy, or when deciding which hardware vendor to do business with.

Watch for the complete article in the upcoming March/April issue of REPRO REPORT.
