The Two Garys: Gary Crisp and Garry Groninger
By Ed Avis
Crisp Imaging has added another reprographics firm to its roster. This time it’s DES Reprographics, which was founded in 1992 and is located in Santa Clara, California.
“DES brings us a Silicon Valley location and helps us build our business in the Bay Area,” explains Gary Crisp, CEO and president of Crisp Imaging. DES will be Crisp Imaging’s third location in the Bay Area.
In addition to the strategic location, acquiring DES will give Crisp a leg up in equipment placements, Crisp says, because DES has over 500 placements in the area. DES deals and services KIP, Canon and HP printers and Contex, Colortrac and Graphtec scanners.
DES also offers a wide range of services ranging from wide-format printing to equipment sales. Its clients are in traditional reprographics markets, such as AEC, government and utilities. DES customers will now enjoy a range of new services with Crisp Imaging’s backing, Crisp notes, including interior graphics and other large-format color services.
DES was owned by Garry Groninger, who is retiring.
“Garry is a very bright guy and has run his business for 35 years very successfully,” Crisp says. “And he has a team of veterans. When we sat down with Garry, we sat down with the team, and that was great. It’s going to be a great fit for us, the transaction went very smoothly.”
The acquisition gives Crisp 27 locations across California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. The company, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, is owned by Gary and Julie Crisp. Click here to read some past IRgA articles about the company.
