Former IRgA member HONBLUE in Hawaii has a new owner. The 58-year-old company, which has locations in Honolulu and Kahului, has been run by the Heim family since its founding.
“The two brothers that were running the company, along with myself, are all in our mid-sixties,” said Harvey Rackmil, the company’s CFO, in an article on the website of New Direction Partners, the investment banking firm that facilitated the sale of the company. “There was no third generation to run the business, so we needed to think about other options.”
The buyers are two entrepreneurs from Seattle who had been in the tech business, according to the article. The previous owners retained a minority interest, and Rackmil has remained with the company as CFO, a role he had held for 22 years.
“It was important to us that whoever acquired us fit our culture. Hawaii is a bit of a different business environment to work in,” Rackmil said. “From our side, we felt that these gentlemen would fit right in and keep the culture very close to what it is now…We are all excited about the future of HONBLUE under the new ownership.”
