Image Access, a large-format and book scanner manufacturer located in Germany and a long-time IRgA Vendor Member, has new owners. Image Access founder Thomas Ingendoh and his partner Rüdiger Klepsch have sold their company to ScanGut Verwaltungs-GmbH, a subsidiary of private equity firm UnternehmensGut, which is located in Frankfurt.
Ingendoh and Klepsch will remain with the company, and Ingendoh says nothing will change for the company’s U.S. customers. Ingendoh founded the company in 1994 (click here to read 2015 IRgA interview with Ingendoh).
“The entry of UnternehmensGut as a long-term, financially strong partner enables us to strengthen our market position in a targeted manner and to further accelerate our growth,” Ingendoh says.
UnternehmensGut focuses on medium-sized companies located in Germany, and is known for focusing on long-term growth rather than quick exits. While Image Access is best known in the reprographics industry for its WideTEK and WideTEK ART scanners, much future growth may occur in other fields, Ingendoh says. One particularly strong area of growth for the company is the field of machine vision technology, which uses scanners to increase automation of manufacturing processes.
The UnternehmensGut founder Jens Fürbeth says sees great potential in the company: “Image Access has established itself as a technology leader over decades and has an excellent market position - an ideal springboard for further growth.”
Manuel Paradis Retires
In addition to this news, Ingendoh has announced that Manuel Paradis, who developed Image Access sales in Latin America for 10 years, will retire at the end of April. His successor is Daniel Carrillo, who has a long track record in the industry working for Bell + Howell, Kodak and other companies. He is located in Mexico City and his sales territory includes every country south of the US-Mexican border in addition to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
