Nearly every reprographics business will eventually transition to new owners, one way or another. It will either be passed on to family; transitioned to employees; or sold to a third party.
If you wonder how this transition will go at your business, be sure to attend “Preparing Your Repro Business for Transition: A 3-Part Webinar,” on June 18 at 10 a.m. Central. This event will offer guidance on all three transition possibilities.
Part 1 (10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Central) will be about how to transition your business to a child or other family member. This session will be run by Mike Marchi, a family business expert who held executive positions at Kohler, Grohe, Aristech Surfaces and other family-owned and public businesses. Marchi, who is now a consultant, will offer advice on preparing a family member for leadership and avoiding the potential pitfalls of that situation.
Part 2 (11 a.m. to Noon Central) will cover how to sell your reprographics business to employees. Tom Taubenheim will share his experience as he transitioned from employee to owner of A/E Graphics in Milwaukee. And we will learn how A&E - The Graphics Complex created an innovative program that financially rewarded key employees when that company transitioned to a new external owner.
Part 3 (1 p.m. to 2 p.m.) will explain best practices for preparing a reprographics business for sale to another company. This part of the event will be led by Joel Salus, a former reprographics firm founder who has been on both sides of the M&A table. In recent years he has shepherded more than 40 successful sale/acquisition transactions in the reprographics field. Salus will offer detailed advice on preparing your business – years ahead of time – for a successful sale.
We will keep to the schedule, so attendees who don't want to stay for the whole thing can join the event specifically at the time slot they desire. This is a members-only event.
