The APDSP Index climbed three points for AEC business in the second quarter of 2017, and three points for non-AEC business. The Index was 63 for AEC business, compared to 60 in the first quarter of 2017; and 78 for non-AEC business, compared to 75 during the first quarter of 2017. Any number over 50 indicates growth, so these figures show that growth has slightly accelerated in both areas.
In year-to-year comparison, the Index was down in AEC business and up in non-AEC. The Index stood at 71 for AEC business during the second quarter of 2016, and 73 for non-AEC business.
The first quarter 2017 Index was based on a survey of IRgA members sent in November 2017. Forty-nine reprographics shops answered the survey. Of the respondents, 24 reported growth in their AEC business over the previous quarter, compared to 11 who said it went down. For non-AEC business, 33 reported growth, compared to 6 who saw a decline.
Specific details about the survey, such as a geographic breakdown and a detailed breakdown by type of job, will be emailed to respondents who completed the survey and paid APDSP members. Look for the next survey in December.
