APDSP has signed a letter of agreement with Graphic Arts Advisors to launch a program to establish standardized operating ratios and other metrics for the reprographics industry. This effort began in 2020 when APDSP surveyed members about what metrics they used to measure their success. Graphic Arts Advisors has developed standardized operating ratios for the quick-print industry, so the firm is well positioned to do the same for reprographics.
The next step will be development of the survey that will collect the data needed to create the standardized metrics. The survey will be distributed to reprographic businesses -- members and non-members -- in mid-June. The report is scheduled to be released in mid-August. Only firms that participate in the survey will receive the report.
"The last time the IRgA did an operating ratios study was in 2006, so it's definitely time to establish new standards," says Managing Director Ed Avis. "I'm pleased that Graphic Arts Advisors will be running this effort and I'm confident the result will be a highly useful set of metrics that APDSP members can use to measure their businesses."
