The German government plans to require building documents to be digital, according to an email from Achim Carius, the leader of Motio, the German reprographics association. Here is a summary of a message he is sending to members:
A new organization under the name "Building Digital GmbH" is being founded. The aim of the organization is to build a national platform, among other things, for the ongoing development of construction standards. An important part of this will be the digitization of all the planning documents and relevant information and the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM). This will mean that paper will no longer be used. This effort is being driven by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
Government and experts have been working intensively on the "digital construction document" as part of eGovernment. In setting new standards, rules and communication standards, Motio is permanently involved as an association in order to communicate with our future planning and construction customers on an equal footing. The document management related to construction is not new territory for us.
