Twenty-two students from a Chicago high school got a first-hand look at reprographics in action when they visited Cushing on April 6. Here's a description of what the students did from Cushing Marketing Manager Jon Davis:
- Saw how customer service enter orders and assist clients with questions
- We had rush orders come through when they were here – they were able to see
- how creative literally gets imaged to the flatbed printer and new Indigo Press. They saw the workflow from the flatbed to the Zund Cutter and how the team works together to process jobs.
- Learned about company history (Cushing’s beginnings as a blueprinter and continuing evolution into a display graphics company)
- Had a chance to see how the designs they are working on in the classroom can become larger than life, environmental graphics – and how their designs can come reality – from classroom to the shop floor
- Marketing (Jon Davis and Catie Duffy) presented on how graphic design impacts email marketing, website user experience & search engine optimization to our own Cushing print collateral!
- They participated in an interactive question and answer session with two project managers (Jill Wicklund and Julia Kaufman) and asked questions about everything from vector files to the craziest thing that has happened on the shop floor.
- Most importantly the kids had a blast!! and learned a ton. We are hoping this spurs more opportunities with Chicago schools!!!
