IRgA member Reprodux played a large role at the Parapan Am Games torch relay in Hamilton on Tuesday, Aug 4th.
"It truly was an honour to play a role in such a special event and we had a blast doing it," said Reprodux President Kim Long.
Robbie, Long's son, was the official torch bearer at the event, and other Reprodux staff were his bright and cheery cheerleaders. Robbie was ecstatic to pass on the iconic flame, telling his mom “this is so awesome - way cooler than I ever expected!”
Long explained why her firm affiliates with Parapan: "As a small business that’s flourished into a midsize company thanks to local support, we make it our mission to give back to our community, especially when it comes to organizations close to our heart. Sixteen years ago, Robbie (the torch bearer) came into our lives and forever changed us, for the better. This amazing guy is the founder’s grandson; not only does he have the drive and brains like his granddad, he has the sunniest disposition of anyone you’ve ever known. He also has Cerebral Palsy. In our quest to help find a cure for our pal Robbie – and the tens of thousands of Canadians like him – we have chosen to focus our charitable support behind a trio of foundations (threetobe.org, hollandbloorview.ca, youthbocce.com) who raise money for children with disabilities."
