The recording of the webinar about how coronavirus is affecting reprographics, which was held March 24, 2020, has been posted. This event was hosted by by Ed Avis, managing director of the Association of Printing and Data Solutions Professionals. Panelists were Kevin Howes, executive director of the RSA; Rick Bosworth, president of RMX Network; John Lipari, president of Plan & Print in Syracuse, NY; and Kyle Batsford, vice president of Palomar Reprographics in Carlsbad, California.
During the webinar, several questions arose that require further information:
2) Panelists discussed if reprographics firms are "essential businesses" and can remain open during the crisis. This is a state-by-state situation. However, in those communities that construction is deemed essential, it stands to reason that reprographics is also essential. Panelist John Lipari from Syracuse said he applied to the state of NY for an "essential business" designation. The International Sign Association (ISA) is lobbying for sign businesses to also be listed as essential. Click here for info from the ISA on that topic.
3) An attendee asked if the potential "forgivable" loans for small businesses will be means tested. No information could be found suggesting that they will be.
Online File Submission Offer from ReproConnect
In order to support social distancing in print businesses during the coronavirus crisis, Joseph Szobody, president of ReproConnect, has made their FileRocket job submission system available for APDSP members for free for 90 days, no strings attached. Here is a description of FileRocket:
"FileRocket is a file transfer solution specifically built for the printing industry. We start by building highly tailored upload forms, with options and fields customized to the needs of a print shop. Printing companies can then embed the upload forms directly on their own websites, seamlessly. Customers can fill out print orders online, and attach all their files. Production staff receives an immediate email notification with all the order details and a one-click link to download the files. And the customer receives a confirmation email."
