Joel Salus, a long-time reprographics firm owner and consultant, said of Cich:
If you never had the pleasure of meeting Dave, he was a wonderful and very smart savvy guy. I met him when I was still active, must have been around 2001 or thereabouts. At the time, he was with OCE - color imaging supplies/consumables. At that time, I was assisting a company called Lellyette and Rogers (Nashville, TN) get a “digital color graphics” (small and large-format digital color) “department” off the ground. Dave’s advice was instrumental. He also referred me to a guy who L&R then hired to manage that department. He later went on to work in the wide-format color equipment business, working first for Ernie Chin, owner of CET Color, then left Ernie to form (with partners) Vanguard color systems, which was later acquired by Durst. Dave Cich knew, and was good friends with, a lot of people in the reprographics industry.
